Pengguling
£100 donation to Pangolin conservation is included in the price of this artwork
This artwork is titled Pengguling which is the Malay word that translates to "roller" in English.
It refers to the action of rolling into a ball, which is a defensive behaviour common to pangolins.
Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world.
Tens of thousands of these shy harmless creatures are poached every year, they are killed for their scales made of keratin for use in traditional chinese medicine.
Pangolins are also killed for their meat, a dlicacy among some ultra-wealthy in China and Vietnam and there is also a demand for their leather to use in boots, bags and belts.
